episode 3 again

having finally watched the final 3 episodes of starwars, i felt compelled to see episode 3 again. i’m finally starting to understand how the starwars geeks became the way they did. i even jotted down a few one-liners, that i’m dying to find an opportunity to use ;) something else that i clearly noticed that ben had pointed out to me was all of the bush overtones. like when the chancellor is speaking to the senate and natalie portman says: ’so this is how liberty dies, in thunderous applause’ and then anakin later says to obiwan: ‘either you are with me, or you are my enemy’ i really liked this movie, but i think it’s pretty lame for lucas to spin his political views into such a great fantasy movie. i wonder if there weren’t similar political overtones in the original episodes that i wouldn’t notice because i’m not familiar with politics from the late 70’s/early 80’s… i’d imagine there must be some. i figure i should see ep1 and ep2 since everything else is fresh, then i can put this whole starwars thing to bed for a while.

memorial day weekend

damn, 3 day weekends seem to go by faster than regular ones for some reason. takako was here yesterday and we pretty much just lounged around all day long. went to katella deli and picked up some sandwiches, went for a swim, napped and just hung out. ben stopped by to give me $5 and we had an argument over sunglasses, but it seems that’s been worked out. later that night we drank all the $2 margaritas we could hold, and i had a coupon for the meals, so it was a cheap drunk date =p she also gave me a copy of the japanese car magazine she was in. it had her picture next to a g35 coupe… maybe i should get one?

the butterfly effect

i spent most of the day helping my mom plant trees and do other back-breaking manuel labor. after a good shower and a nap, i watched the butteryfly effect. awsome movie. i’d been wanting to watch it for a while, but like most of the dvd’s i got, i have had no time to watch ‘em. the premise is this kid who has blackouts throughout his childhood. at the advice of a shrink, he keeps a journal daily to help him with his problems. flash forward 7 years and he starts reading his journals and finds that he can change his past, and like all time travel movies, there’s consequences. most of the time travel/consequence stuff makes sense, and the movie’s pretty intense. i recommend it, but i’m sure yahoo movies gives it a c+

lb > newport ride

did a ride from my place to newport and back. ~32 miles roundtrip. avg speed was 16mph, but i held 30 for a few mins at a time through some sections of pch where there’s no shoulder and you’re right next to the cars. rode the whole thing with marvin, and ben met up with us to ride the last leg from bolsa chica. afterwards we went for a swim, then went to the bike shop where i returned a trainer i bought. wacky thing was that i paid $89 + tax for it, and they refunded me $99 + tax =P so they let me borrow it for a week and paid me $11 to do it <3 nice guys. had dinner at supermex then saw the longest yard which i felt deserved at least a b- rating, but ben was right and yahoo’s critics averaged a c+

go college!

went and had dinner wit my sister in westwood tonite. seeing how cool her place is and all the cool people just hanging around and partying on a friday night makes me miss having not done the whole college experience thing. like me and my friends are always looking for something to do, but they just all get together at someone’s place and hangout, people show up, people go to other parties… yeh, anyway i’m glad she’s doing it right.

stopped by shuchan to see my dad. he turned 55 and they were having a party for him there. hung out for a while then headed over to james’ and played some poker. 3 games: james, jen and me. jen totally deserved the last game. i blindly went all in twice in a row and made a full house and then two pair magically. it’s how i do.

wahoo! taupe headrests

a few years back before i swapped my driver seat out to my momo rookie racing seat, jai burned a mad hole in the headrest of one of my seats. now that i’m getting ready to sell that puppy, i’m trying to put somethings back in order. anyway, i’d been looking for these for a damn long time. this one upholstry shop wanted $250 to recover it, and on ebay, i got it 2 for $30.01 - SNIPE!

damn heater hoes

so i was cruisn’ home today in my fly integra, and i could kinda smell some coolant. i kept hopin’ it was the car infront of me, but as i changed lanes i realized it was prolly me. so i kept an eye on the temp guage, and it looked fine, so i figured wtf ever. turned my music up, and cruised at a phat 13 mph for 13 miles. as i get off the freeway, and get close to passing my mom’s house (where all my tools are at) the temp guage starts shooting up so i hook a left and pull into the driveway… my shit is steaming like mad. upon closer inspection, the pressure was being lost in the heater hose that goes from the thermostat housing back into the manifold. walked to autozone (my mom’s place is super convenient for working on cars), bought the $4 hose, came back, replaced it, filled up with coolant mix, and i was good to go. i just need this baby to run another good few months, then i’ll be able to retire her with honor.

easter eggs and other lost stuff

if you go to www.oceanic-air.com on the side, if you scroll over the text, you can get a few things, one is this pink sheet. then there are two of what are apparently messages inside the bottles from the survivors.

If anyone should find this message, please get word to Sandra Rafflethorpe of Palm Avenue in Lewiston, Idaho that her sister, Sally is alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they’re getting worse…”
Sally

Robert D. West, of Santa Barbara, California, USA survived a horrific plane crash and is stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to parents, Mr. and Mrs. John West, of Tucson Arizona. Thank you.
Robert

if you go to http://www.oceanic-air.com/seatingchart.htm and click on those mystery numbers in their order (4 8 15 16 23 42) you can see a preview of next season’s show. also if you click around on the different seats, other’s will light up, and if you click them different things will happen, like photos and passports and vodka bottles…

and last geeky thing, i saw this quote on the abc forums:

No, it was the scene with Danielle. She says something like, “I heard them whispering that they were coming for the boy”. She assumed they meant the baby, but really they meant Walt!!!

stupid tv program.
