japanese navy data leaked…

“Secret data involving codes and exercise programs for the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) has been leaked online through the file exchange software Winny, it has been learned.

Sources said that a personal computer of an official from the Asayuki naval ship that belongs to the MSDF Sasebo base was infected with a computer virus, leading to the leak.

The data contains a folder with codes that describes how to operate a code alteration system. A “top secret” list of codes is also contained in the data, as are ship call signs.

The leaked MSDF information amounts to about 290 floppy discs. The Defense Agency has launched investigations into the incident.”

first of all, how stupid is it that a computer with “top-secret” information has a file sharing program on it, or even full access to the internet. secondly who the FUCK reports amounts of data in increments of floppy disks?!

phew…

in my boss’ absense, i’ve been making a lot of out-of-my-pay-grade presentations. there’s a lot of cool people here who like me and ask me to make a lot of these presentations infront of important groups of people for my own professional good. and while i appreciate it, i get nervous as all hell in some of them. most of these vp level meetings at my company look just like tv commercials… a long rectangular desk with old balding men glaring at you. one of the keys i’ve found that worked out in the meeting i had this morning, is to try to connect with a vocal person who’s pretty senior in the meeting. if you can play to him a bit from the start, he’ll be loud and supportive through the rest of your presentation. the best thing is when people are having discussions about your presentation during your presentation, forcing you to pause. it gives me a chance to regroup my thoughts and shows they’re engaged. the worst presentation is when no one says anything… luckily the few times that that’s happened, the person that asked me to present in the meeting usually becomes the vocal, supportive person and get’s the ball rolling.

anyway, i’ve been anxious about this morning’s meeting all week. poor takako had to listen to my presentation 3 times last night, and i’m sure she didn’t understand a word of it (not that anyone outside the organization would’ve)… i kept laughing to myself while presenting this morning thinking of how she kept raising her hand with a question all excited like she had to use the restroom.

anyway, phew! the week’s almost over. one more class/test tonite, and then i can finally get some fucking sleep. yesterday i got into work early, worked a full day, went straight to school, then went to see taka in la, and had to wake up at 6a to be at work by 7a! i can’t wait until summer :)

clinique acne solutions

i know i was running around telling everybody about this a few weeks ago, but it was finally put to the ultimate test so i thought i’d report out :) i’ve had acne problems forever, but the one place that’s the most painful, longest lasting, and obviously most noticeable is on the tip of my huge nose. anyway, by now i know exactly how long a zit on what part of my face is going to last, and on sunday when i felt the first signs of pain and redness, i was already mentally marking out days on my calendar. anyway (and if it’s tmi just stop reading) this particular zit takes almost a full 5-7 days to actually come to a white head, and then after it breaks it’s like another full week of stretched skin flaking off and redness. so i tried ‘clinique acne solutions’ that my sis had recommended a while back on sunday night, applying that before i go to sleep, and tinted clearsil during the day, and this moring (48 hours later), the zit was at a whitehead and breakable.

anyway, i know most of my friends are too old to be getting zits, but if you do, clinique acne solutions is your answer =P

sometimes i love school

during the second half of this 3 hour class i had last night, the teacher let us work on our group projects that we had signed up for last week. there were 2 new chicks in the class, one super hot and the other super ugly. so as soon as he let us break into groups, is saw the two girls go up to the teacher since they hadn’t signed up for a group. luckily the hot girl headed up first, so i quickly raised my hand and said i didn’t know who was in my group since we had just signed up per topic (of course i did know the other girl in my group, i had signed up for it because she did), and the fact that we had only two people in our group perfectly coincided with the hot girl saying she didn’t have a group. right afterwards the ugly girl said she also didn’t have a group, and she got to go work with the only other group of 2. i’m much happier working with pretty people.
