… and i can see the ground beneath me, from 40,000 feet

ana has wireless high-speed internet access. how fucking cool is that? makes an 11 hour flight that much more tolerable. they also have a dvr loaded with great shows like ‘full house’ :) this airline also has a super high quality camera on the front of the plane so you can watch the pacific ocean. it was pretty interesting on takeoff though, since i’ve never seen a takeoff from the front view. anyway, i’m just gonna surf porn until my battery dies, or i fall asleep whichever comes first!

so i asked a couple of my friends to write testimonials…

For taka when she applies for her permanent resident status… i guess they request that you have some long standing friends or whatever provide such testimonials as another preventitive measure to people marrying just to get green cards and then mooch off our american benefits or whatever. ben kindly writes:

To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter as a testimonial to the nature of the relationship between Kentaro and Takako. Kent is one of my best friends, and I can say emphatically that he’s truely in love with Takako. They met on the internet 2 weeks ago, and even though they’ve never seen each other in person and Takako barely speaks English, I’ve never seen Kent so happy. I thought the dowry of $20000 was a very nice wedding present from her family to him, and I’m particularly impressed with her in that she personally gave me $1500 to write this letter. In addition to that, I am sure of their mutual love as Takako has agreed to provide Kent with a $5000 monthly allowance- reminding him every month just exactly how much she truly loves him.

Kent’s love is unquestionable as he has already set up a separate room for Takako to sleep in when she arrives so they won’t disturb each other by sleeping in the same bed. This step is particularly thoughtful when considering the hideous birth defects that could potentially arise should Kent and Takako accidentally mate- the world doesn’t need anymore six fingered children and Kent is generous enough to know not to burden Takako with that disgrace.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Ackerman

motorola l2

so my new cell phone came in yesterday. my only real requirement was a phone that didn’t have a camera (paranoid gov’t contractors), and these days there aren’t too many fancy phones without them. previously the only ones available were the bottom of the line flip phones that didn’t include them because they were just too cheap to. the moto l2 ended up being free through my company’s business account, and taka had wanted a razr so now everyone’s happy.

the phone is about 10% thinner than the razr, and overall smaller than the slvr. luckily moto phone tools recognized the l2 as the razr so i could just dump all of my contacts/calendar from my razr directly into it.

my history with cell phones

i ordered the motorola L2 phone today, which is a stripped down version of the SLVR, with no camera and no itunes (but slightly smaller :p). i haven’t been able to bring my phone into work because it has a camera, but non-camera phones are permitted if cleared by security now, so i decided to pick it up and i’m going to give taka my razr.

last week ben and i were talking about all the phones we’ve had over the years. my mom bought me my first cell phone in 1994 when i started highschool, because i guess the campus was built over old oil refinery tanks or something and that made her nervous =p the phone wasn’t as big as the zack morris phone, but it was big and ugly. the service plan was $49.99/mo and included 20 minutes, with each additional minute being $1.20 or something.

on average i seem to get a new phone every year. i think among my friends i’ve had the most phones over the last 12 years. ben *might* have had more.

hottest disneyland trip. ever.

i went to disneyland yesterday with ben and some homies for his birthday. it was hot as hell. it ended up being like 105/106F and with the humidity it felt more like 110F! but we stayed as cool as we could and had a great time. i also bought a pass since it was only a bit more than the actual ticket, and i figure since takako’s moving here in about a week, it’d be a fun thing to do every now and then with her.

mulan wanted to take her picture with me, so i was like sure, whatever.

then the dumb bitch was like “why do you have to pose so effeminate?” so i was like “bitch, you wanna see my guns?” i pulled one of those puppies out and bam! look at the smile on her face.

daughter sues parents after slipping on their icy driveway

wtf is wrong with people these days?

MADISON, Wis. — An Illinois woman is suing her Wisconsin parents for maintaining an icy driveway that she blamed for a fall that broke her ankle two winters ago.

This week, a federal judge refused to toss out the lawsuit, setting up a trial for November.

Carriel Louah, 25, visited Darlington, Wis., to surprise her mother on her birthday in January 2005. But the next morning, she was injured when she slipped and fell on her parents’ driveway. She filed suit against her parents earlier this year.

The daughter said that a letter from her mom apologizing months after the fall proves that her parents knew they had a defective gutter for years and did nothing about it.

She’s seeking more than $75,000 in damages for medical bills and lost wages.

Her parents said that she can’t prove the driveway was icy at the time or that their drainage system was faulty.

U.S. District Judge John Shabaz said that a jury should decide the matter.

wakeboarding in the evening

the days have been getting so damn hot, that even at 8p the weather is still pretty warm. the marine stadium bay has also warmed up nicely so last night we took out the boat in lieu of our usual wednesday back/bicep workout :) there were only one or two other boats out there, so the water was completely flat, no wind and with the warm water was an awesome ride. dave finally learned how to get up on the wakeboard and his gf stella almost figured it out… i’m sure she’ll be up next time. so yeh, no more packing the skis! i’m thinking we should just do our wakeboarding on the weekdays after work for a while because last night was probably the best conditions yet.
