A couple was invited to a swanky masked Halloween Party. She got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone. He, being a devoted husband, protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed, and there was no need of his good time being spoiled by not going. So he took his costume and away he went.

The wife, after sleeping soundly for one hour, awakened without pain, and as it was still early, she decided to go to the party. In as much as her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him.

She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice chick he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there. His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new stuff that had just arrived.

She let him go as far as he wished; naturally, since he was her husband. Finally he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed, so off they went to one of the cars and had a little bang.

Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away and went home and put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior.

She was sitting up reading when he came in and asked what kind of a time he had. He said, “Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you’re not there.”

Then she asked, “Did you dance much?”

He replied, “I’ll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys, so we went into the den and played poker all evening. But I’ll tell you… the guy I loaned my costume to sure had a real good time!”

i remember in highschool, i thought i was cool, because i could twirl a pen between four fingers. these crazy nips put me to shame.

so while i wait for february’s iphone sdk release, i installed the new appsnapp installer which jailbreaks the phone’s firmware and installes the apptapp software to install apps directly from the phone, over the web. i could have been a good boy and waited until the official programs start coming out, but 5+ months is a long time in the life of a cell phone. i figured i might as well get the most out of this phone while i still have it. i’m guessing that in 5 months, there will already be leaked details of the next amazing phone that i’ll be eyeing and saving my pennies for.

the scary part of this new install is how easy it was to perform. the original jailbreak app, required me to download back-up firmware updates from apple, restart several times, and then run a couple different apps before the system was ready to go. the new appsnapp only required me to visit a website, and while using a .tiff flaw, instantly gained root access to the phone, jailbreak’d the firmware and installed apptap, all without a single prompt from the phone itself. the most ironic part of the process is that appsnapp closes the .tiff loophole that it used to gain access, making it more secure than it was when i started.

since taka’s been working quite a bit lately (poor thing is working like 12 hour days), i’ve found lots of free time to play video games, most of which i spend playing halo 3. halo 3 has 2 ways to rank your skill online. one is with experience points which you receive if you are in the upper 49% in a rumble pit type game, or if your team wins in a co-op game. if you lose your game, you don’t lose any experience points. the other way you are ranked is with your skill rank, which goes up when you win your games, and goes down when you lose them.

i can’t figure out the exact algorithm for the skill level increase, as it becomes more difficult the higher you get. it seemed relatively easy to get a rank of 25 in the “lone wolf” ranked games, but after that, i had to be in either 2nd place twice in a row, or first place to rank up, and then once at 29, i had to win 1st place twice in a row to rank up to 30, which is where i’m currently at. and at this point, everyone else is in the same boat as you, having to win the game, or rank back down, so you really are competing against someone just as good as you. it seriously took me about 10 hours of gameplay to move up from rank 25 to 30, and it got pretty frustrating, being at 29, winning first place, but then getting last place the second time, and moving back down to 28. a couple of times i’d spend hours and end up exactly where i started, i felt like i was gambling.

amidst my failings in halo 3, i’d pick up forza 2, which i’m finally getting into. i finished all the “proving grounds” races and got through the first 5 or so “amature cup” races, winning first place in all. i’m currently in the muscle car championship, which sucks, because all of those cars have slow pickup and lazy ass suspension. the graphics in forza 2 are beautiful, and the modding and competition is setup very similarly to the gran turismo series. most of the races i’ve been in so far have been with relatively slow cars though, and i look forward to unlocking some faster cars and tracks.

jean’s company through a huge halloween party in venice on saturday. she works for a digital effects company and those hollywood-movie types had some crazy and creative costumes. ben and i went as the skipper and gilligan, a costume 27 years in the making. the party had free food, free cover (it was an invitee only thing) and best of all, open bar. i got pretty wasted really quick, and by the time i left i was stumbling to get to the car. taka had to work on sunday morning, so she was my designated driver.

we took tons of pics, and i’m sure both ben and costin will blog about and post their pics of the party.

it was nice to wear a costume where everybody recognized me and said hi, it was like i was famous. notice the sexy gogo dancers in the background:

these guys dressed up as the cast from family guy. when one of of them went to the bathroom, i had to try it on. notice, i’m still rocking the gilligan hat, so you know it’s me.

this steve urkel wouldn’t get out of character when i was trying to talk to him. it was annoyingly hilarious.

i saw this on digg a couple of days ago. seriously though, would you let your kids in there?

so after a month of haloing every free minute i have, i’ve pretty much completed all that i set out to do in the game. i completed the campaign on normal and heroic by myself, and finished a few levels of legendary on my own and did the rest on co-op with friends.

thankfully, there’s tons of replay value online. i’m ranked as a captain with 116 EXP and a max rank of 21 (yeh, yeh… super geeky)

anyway, sounds like it’s time to focus my attention on another game. puzzle fighter hd anyone?

on sunday the wind was nuts here in long beach. there were parts of trees and trash flying all over the place. while we were out running errands we saw a large tree that fell on a car just a few blocks away from our apartment. sucks for that guy.
