there is not 100% more chicken in del taco’s spicy chicken burrito

seriously though. 100% more means twice as much, right? i bought a spicy chicken burrito at lunch, and it felt pretty thin, so i opened it up, and there were 5 small pieces of chicken in there! i felt like going back to complain, but realized the futility of it, and was pretty hungry so i just ate it. why go through such a huge campaign about 100% more chicken when there’s obviously not? grr.

james was the closest with 410! congratulations foo. the guy that hates my ads the most wins the prize from their proceeds, oh the ironing!

i’ll rollerblade over to your crib this weekend and drop it off.

thanks for playing everyone. i’ll do another at the end of december, so long as there’s profits to be shared.

old but good - conveyor belt sushi in japan

i ran across this video again today when i was backing up some files. i know i’ve posted it on here before, but it’s classic enough to post again. this is from 2004 at a conveyor belt sushi bar in shinjuku ikebukuro, japan.

our wedding photos on display in fukuoka, japan

one of taka’s friends from her home town of fukuoka (the city in japan where we got married last year) went to get her film developed and noticed that apparently there is now a montage of our wedding photos blown up and on display *on* the shop’s wall window. giggity giggity!

her friend only took a small camera phone pic (you’d think those japanese would have more advanced camera phones that could take a better/larger pic?), but said she’d go back with a real camera and take pics of the entire display. i’ll upload them to my flickr when i get them.

i guess we’re just that good looking, and now famous yo!

dorothy lucey from good day la is scary

high definition hasn’t been kind to many newscasters, but the one that bothers me the most is 50 year-old dorothy lucey on fox’s morning show good day la. she has freckles all over her body, which is fine. the problem is she wears super white tv makeup on her face (which doesn’t work right in HD), contrasted by dark eye makeup and always wears these low cut shirts to show her large freckled boobs.

this picture doesn’t do her (on the left) the scary justice i’m talking about, but i figured if i did a screen cap of the show i’m watching right now i might get into some copyright issue if someone sees this post. 42 year-old jillian reynolds (on the right) also acts and dresses like she’s 20, but she’s still pretty good, so i’m not complaining.

i’m sure hd is cutting lots of news women’s jobs short. thank god for technology.

tivo series 3 and tivo to go = awesome

when i switched from my original tivo to the scientific atlanta charter dvr a few years ago, i was pretty dissapointed. the system was slow, the interface looked like crap, and it would re-record shows that it still had on it’s hard drive. things got a bit better when i went to the hd moxi box by charter, but it was still too slow, only held a few shows when recording in hd, and the interface was no tivo.

the last 2 months being back with real tivo has been great. i’ve been using it solely with ota hd, but it has dual cable card support, which will soon support two way communication with the cable companies, to allow on-demand and greater bandwidth because it won’t have to always send all of the channels, only the channels you’re watching. when the tv season ends this fall, i’ll probably get the cable cards and service since there won’t be anything worth watching on network television.

the best thing about tivo that i just bothered setting up is tivo-to-go. from any pc on your network, you can access your tivo and download the shows to your computer. and the very best part? i set it up to auto convert to h.264 to play on my iphone. i doubt i’ll start watching that many shows on my phone, but it’s nice to have that option, and an easy way to do it when i want to.

how many jelly beans in the jar? = $15 itunes gc

kentomatic is actually making a few bucks every month from sponsorships. i really only need it to pay the hosting fees, and since you readers put up with the ads and even occasionally click on them, i thought i’d share the wealth.

to wit, we have the classic question of how many jelly beans are in the jar. closest wins, or first person to guess the exact amount wins. non-price is right rules. one guess per person. enter your name and guess into the comments. if i don’t actually know who you are, make sure you put an email address in there too. game ends 12pm friday, december november 30th. winner will be announced immediately afterwards. the winner gets a $15 itunes giftcard. hyperion gundam not included.

go!

comparing the picture quality of dvd and hd-dvd

for all the ranting i do about how much better the quality of hd-dvd is than regular dvd, it’s pretty difficult to tell the difference when they’re not compared side-by-side. since i recently bought the top gun hd-dvd, and already had the standard dvd version, i decided to take some comparison shots.
