pet sweat energy drink (it’s for your pets, not made from them)
but i could see how it could be confusing. the otsuka group, the same fine folks that brought you pocari sweat, brings you this calcium enriched water supplement for your pets:

dog + cat + rat in santa barbara
man, even the pets in northern(ish) california are laid back, pot smoking liberals. these guys were just walking around jenga-style up and down state street.

the best part was when this little kid ran up to them and was like “how is that possible?!, that’s just not right!” he seemed pretty agitated by it. anyway, i’m off to buy a rat and give this a shot.
2007 orange county fair!
on saturday, the wife, ben and myself went to check out the oc fair in costa mesa. we pretty much go every year since it’s a cheap and fun thing to waste a day doing. this year, ben heard rumors of a chicken burger where the buns are jelly-injected, krispy kreme donuts, so after about 30 minutes of searching, we found charlie’s chicken hut and ate the most delicious and gross creation ever made. my gut was heavy for the next hour:

we spent the rest of the day doing standard fair stuff. this year taka paid the dollar to see the world’s largest cow (last year she saw the horse, so now she feels complete). for the first time i saw the pig races, which was more entertaining than i expected it to be, and the concert at the end of the evening to top it all off? weird al yankovic! we had some super crappy seats, but they were free so i didn’t have much room to complain. fun day at the fair.
taka said she only had one margarita, but i swore she was on e:

i’m not tall enough to ride all the rides at the park?! … and according to the sign, i’m not even 5′ tall :)

ben almost won an electric scooter. he knocked 2 of the 3 blocks completely off the table… i bet the bottom block was nailed to the stand:

i uploaded all the pics to my flickr account. you can see them starting here, and browsing to the right:

pitbull rapes toddler
what kinda fucked up parents leave their 2 year old alone with a pitbull? although my typical fear used to be that it would maul it, not sodomize it :) the article doesn’t make any mention yet of putting the dog to sleep, because dogs hump, that’s what they do… this one just got a hold of something more than a leg.
the mother told Lockport Police that she left her two year old unattended for a short time and after hearing the baby scream, she ran to see what was wrong.
When she got in the room, she told Lockport Police the dog, named “Bear” had sodomized the toddler. The mother screamed, scaring the dog out of the house, but the dog was still attached to the baby.
One neighbor told 2 On Your Side, she heard the mother screaming “the dog is raping my baby.” Neighbors ran to help, but only one man was able to get the dog and child apart.
Anastacio Castillo says “I tried to get the dog away from the baby, the dog was already inside the baby.” When the baby was finally free, he was visibly sick. Castillo says the boy was vomiting and bleeding.

fatty traps tourists in cave
An overweight woman who got stuck in a South African cave trapped 22 fellow tourists for more than 10 hours and had to be prised free with liquid paraffin.
The tourists, including two asthmatic children, were given blankets, water and chocolate bars as the rescue proceeded.
One rescuer was able to climb over the woman to deliver insulin to the diabetic.
No drilling equipment was needed and the woman was eventually freed with a pulley and paraffin used to grease the surface.

borat backlash
it seems that everyone thought he was funny and great until his film made like $60 million in 2 weeks and is on track to be the highest grossing comedy of all times.
aside from the frat boys that are suing him for making a fool out of them, and kazahkstan still pissed off, a small town in romania (the on-site filming location that was portrayed as borat’s hometown in kazahkstan) is now planning to sue him. here’s an article from the japanese news site i read, so that means the quotes were translated from romanian to japanese and then to english.

some quotes:
Sorina Luca, 25, excitedly described how she was given 10 lei (US$3.30) to bring a pig into her home and let the producers put a toy rifle into the hands of her 5-year-old daughter for one scene. “I really liked it,” she said. “We are poor and miserable. Nothing ever happens here.”
and a quote from another villager:
“They made us put a cow in our living room, and they made it defecate and urinate in the house. Everyone’s angry because they didn’t pay them the way they should have.
so they agreed to have them crap in their living room, but think it’s justifiable to file suit since they weren’t paid enough?!
maybe borat, or fox studios will give them a cool million to make this go away. i’m sure even a small amount like that would increase the entire town’s standard of living 10 fold. but regarding the actual lawsuit, i think the only question that need be asked is “is it funny?” yes. case dismissed.
