sushi @ shali’s
shali hosted a sushi party at her place. we all made our own rolls and all got drunk. i actually got much drunker than i should’ve, being on the dietary supplements i’m on, but wtf ever. it was worth it and ben was driving =p people made california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, philly rolls, steak rolls and other weird combos. it was all pretty good and was definitely a good time. here’s a couple of pics:
jinro BON!

oh, and btw, all those “bon!” shenanigans were from these ads (peep the “jinro bar” and “jinro home” ads”)

why are the bananas that taka buys me from the japanese super market so much smaller than the ones at ralphs?
4 commentsding, dong… anna nicole smith is dead
can’t say that i care much, other than enjoying all the commotion it causes around the office and on the internets. i really was getting pretty annoyed constantly hearing about this woman, who was famous only for being a slut, gold digger and a drunk. but it seems like this is the last week i’m gonna have to hear about all of it, seeing that just about everyone that was involved with her is now dead (first her rich hubby, then his son, then her son, and now her). i’m guessing the lawyer won’t mind having that paternity test now to prove that someone else is the dad since there isn’t any money for him in it. a fitting end to a long 15 minutes. the autopsy won’t be released for a couple of weeks, but $5 says that it was old man marshall’s ghost that did her in.
what does 200 calories look like?
interesting depection of the amount of different foods that have 200 calories:

if my wife was a real sweetheart
she would have let me have this cake at our wedding:
it’s supposedly entirely edible too.

muscle man dave and his sidekick lyle hosted a sushi class/party at lyle’s place this weekend, and yung, the sushi chef from tuna town in huntington beach was our sensei. he showed us how to prepare cut rolls, hand-rolls, nigiri and some of his personal specialities.
the iron-pumping chef dave preparing the vinegar rice with the wife who is randomly weilding a knife:
taka preparing a philly roll:

ebi nigiri:
spicy tuna hand rolls:
seared tuna with a red pepper crust and albacore:

this is one of yung’s specialties that he’s dubbed “monkey brains” it’s salmon, crab, avacado and cucumber wrapped in halibut:
you bake it for about 5 minutes and voila:
good eats.

No commentsSeason Shot is made of tightly packed seasoning bound by a fully biodegradable food product. The seasoning is actually injected into the bird on impact seasoning the meat from the inside out. When the bird is cooked the seasoning pellets melt into the meat spreading the flavor to the entire bird. Forget worrying about shot breaking your teeth and start wondering about which flavor shot to use!
$7.99 chicken dinner at ralphs
i’m on a big eating schedule again, being sure to take in at least 3000 calories, and not counting after i get over that number per day, but i’ve had some pretty big calorie days lately. anyway, since taka’s not here to cook, i’ve been eating out almost every night and it’s getting pricey. i found a great deal at ralphs though. a whole cooked chicken, one pound of potato salad, one pound of macaroni salad, a loaf of that french bread in a paper bag and a 2-liter bottle of diet coke for $7.99, and no tax since it’s food. anyway, that makes for 2 meals and a couple mid-day snacks, not to mention 3 coke rewards points!
