thousandths? are you kidding me?
just as i started to calm down about my bathroom soap, i go to gnc and my receipt says that i bought 2.000 items. gaaaaah! at least this time it was accurate.

even more thoughts on california’s “hands free” cell phone law
not much is going on this week, so i thought i’d continue on this stupid new cell phone law. i bought my mom a bluetooth headset, and so far she’s more excited that she can gab on the phone and wash dishes at the same time. my dad said he’s just not gonna answer calls when he’s in the car since he’s always been uncomfortable using the phone while driving (taka’s the same way, it’s like asians know they don’t need to make it any harder on themselves).
i’ve seen lots of people wearing bluetooth headsets, and while i still think they look like a douche, it got me to thinking that maybe this new law is going to make wearing a headset trendy. if everyone has to wear one while driving, i imagine that more companies are going to follow aliph’s lead and make really good looking technology and market it as “ear wear.” eventually the tech will become so small that most of the headset will probably be inside your ear… or maybe something new will come out to replace headsets all together.
i actually saw a guy pulled over on the side of the road, and the cop that walked to his window pointed to his cell phone (or maybe it was guns or drugs, but he pointed to something in his car). ben mentioned he’s seen a couple of people pulled over, but i wonder if the cops will care as much in a few months. i think it’d be entertaining to drive around holding an old fashion telephone to your head, or a banana or a burrito and see what the law has to say about it.
here’s a funny vid i found i giz:
why do black women talk during the entire movie?
i know this is a stereotype that’s often joked about, but in my experience (most recently this evening in an affluent part of town) it’s too true. and of course this isn’t all black women, or even the majority of them. but if i’m watching a movie and some lady’s talking to her friends, her phone, or to the movie itself, i can usually guarantee she’s black. the kicker is that unlike most friendly people that i could politely ask to be more quiet, the few times i’ve tried to confront an obnoxiously loud black female in a movie theatre, all hell breaks loose. she starts screaming at me about how i can’t tell her what to do and then just proceeds to talk even louder.
this evening i watched wanted with some friends after dinner and the movie was really entertaining. thankfully there was so much constant action that it drowned out this dumb bitch’s voice, but when there was dialogue, she was just gabbing away. i can’t imagine she was following the story, and her distractions were making it difficult for me to as well. the theatre was so packed that i couldn’t get up and move, and per past experiences decided not to incur the wrath of her, her friend or her boyfriend.
maybe i’m just getting old and cranky, but this is just another reason why i have a nice tv and often just wait for the movies to come to dvd where i can enjoy them in peace, without some brat kicking my chair and some bitch asking her nextel, “where you at?!”
45 commentsi hate these new eco-friendly water bottles
man, these new arrowhead and crystal geyser water bottles suck. they’re super thin, and probably use half the plastic as a normal bottle which is great for the environment. but when i’m fighting to get one open, once i break the cap free, the pressure i put on the bottle to get leverage makes half of the damn water fly out. grr!!!

john mccain… our next president?
man, i’m so sick of this democratic primary. at this point i really have no idea what’s going to happen, or what the fallout of any result might be. most people are tired of the current bush administration, and john mccain seems to be just an extension of that, but by the time hillary and obama are done beating each other up, it seems likely he will win this presidency.
personally, i can’t stand hillary. i think she is a monster and washington politics as usual. she wants to win so badly that she’s willing to put her own glory before the good of the democratic party by running a negative campaign, and likely fighting this primary to the bitter end. i, like most people, am also just ready for a change. there’s been either a bush or a clinton in the white house for the last 19 years, and with bill as ‘first husband’, i don’t expect any fewer scandals or unethical shenanigans.
the speaches i’ve heard from barrack obama have been inspirational. while now quite cliche, i really do feel that he could bring about a good deal of change that this country needs. his plans and policies make sense, and are all quite similar as his rival. while having slightly less experience than hillary, he’s also that much less poisoned by the corruption and questionable ethics that are the clintons. obama has brought out hundreds of thousands of new (primarily black and young (not necessarily both black and young)) voters. but if barrack loses, it seems unlikely that all of those votes would necessarily go directly to hillary. from different political blogs i’ve read and random water cooler talk, the two camps seem to despise each other, and short of being on the same ticket (which hillary has hinted at but with obama as the #2) which isn’t likely to happen, i’m guessing mccain is going to win.
i don’t particularly like mccain. he’s a racist, a war monger and republican politics as usual. he’ll keep us in iraq, he’ll bomb iran and god knows what else. however for me, and i imagine quite a few others, i’d vote for him over hillary. mccain, while being an old nut, that probably wakes up in cold sweats every night imagining he’s still in ‘nam, is the ultimate patriot, and isn’t as likely to sell-out the country or its interests for profit or fame. i don’t agree with him on many issues, but i’d prefer him over hillary if she was the alternative.
so i have no idea what the democrats do from here. mccain is just hanging out, reading the paper every day, while hillary supporters and obama supporters become more affiliated with their candidate than with their party. and when a nominee is finally figured out, however that happens, i really don’t think that it will be too amicable and the democratic party is going to have a hell of a time bringing the previously-opposing camps back together again.
1 commentgah! — i hate absent minded old people
i’m sure i’ll be one someday, but until then, i’ll continue my hate. most of you know or know of my landlady at my old place. she’s in the intro to get out by sublime, as sublime used to live there and apparently drive her nuts. anyway, she’s owed me like $1500 for my deposit now for about 6 weeks. and it’s not the length of time that it’s taking but the reasons that it’s taking so long. first she mailed the check to herself instead of me and she didn’t realize it for about a week or so. fine. then, she mailed something to me, but it didn’t have the check. she put the check back in my file. grr. finally she mails it to me, i get it, but it’s made out to “KURT”!?#@ my bank doesn’t accept it, even with my wacky unique last name. *sigh* i dropped the check off at her place today, but god knows when i’ll get the next one and if it will have my name on it.
2 commentsfinally got my license plates
i’ve had my car now for about 3 months and just finally got my license plates. they usually only take like 2 weeks or so to get, but the douchebags at the dealership kept stalling. the story they kept giving me, was that because they’re a dealership, $700 of the registration fees should be written off, but that the dmv wouldn’t release my license plates until they paid them. all of the fees were negotiated into the final price of the sale, so it wasn’t my responsibility, but every week when i called them, they kept saying they were negotating with the dmv. wtf?
the funny thing is, i remember when eric and i were haggling with the first guy at the dealership, he mentioned that i’d have to pay an extra $700 transfer fee or some such thing on top of the negotiated price, but the closer guy didn’t mention it, and we negotiated a final price that included it. In the end they ended up just eating the loss and paid the DMV the money they owed them. So this weekend i finally was able to remove that damn sticker in my window and get rid of the fugly paper plate. yafuu!
No comments4 hours of debates and all i took away was that i really hate hilary
i’m seriously going to change my party affiliation, just so i can vote for obama. i watched all 4 hours of the republican and democratic debates this evening. the first 2 hours was the republican debate. i don’t particularly like or particularly dislike any of the republican candidates… huckabee seems strong, and i kinda like romney, and i couldn’t for the life of me figure out why magneto was there.
but yeh, every time hilary clinton opened her mouth i would just cringe. she kept trying to attack obama and when she got called out on switching her focus to “change,” which was obama’s key to success in iowa, she got all defensive and bitchy. everyone kinda shut her up at some point though, and she probably spoke the least overall. on top of that her face was more bloated than normal and she couldn’t keep her eyes more than half way open, so i was both aurally and visually offended every time it was her time to talk.
obama and edwards sat next to each other and complimented each other’s ideas a few times and they seem like they could be a good team. edwards/obama ’08
No commentsstarbucks coffee at 24 hour fitness?
+
= wtf?
the “sport” 24 hour fitness on bellflower now has a self-serve starbucks machine. it’s not next to the energy drink vending machines, but in the weight room, so there’s a nauseating mixture of coffee and sweat in the air. i get that caffeine = energy, but that’s what energy drinks are for. you can’t pound a cup of hot coffee like you can a redbull, and if you’re the guy walking around the gym daintily sipping your coffee you’re a douche. anyway i rarely go to that gym anyway, but i hope it’s not the start of a new trend.
there is not 100% more chicken in del taco’s spicy chicken burrito
seriously though. 100% more means twice as much, right? i bought a spicy chicken burrito at lunch, and it felt pretty thin, so i opened it up, and there were 5 small pieces of chicken in there! i felt like going back to complain, but realized the futility of it, and was pretty hungry so i just ate it. why go through such a huge campaign about 100% more chicken when there’s obviously not? grr.
