episode 3 again
having finally watched the final 3 episodes of starwars, i felt compelled to see episode 3 again. i’m finally starting to understand how the starwars geeks became the way they did. i even jotted down a few one-liners, that i’m dying to find an opportunity to use ;) something else that i clearly noticed that ben had pointed out to me was all of the bush overtones. like when the chancellor is speaking to the senate and natalie portman says: ‘so this is how liberty dies, in thunderous applause’ and then anakin later says to obiwan: ‘either you are with me, or you are my enemy’ i really liked this movie, but i think it’s pretty lame for lucas to spin his political views into such a great fantasy movie. i wonder if there weren’t similar political overtones in the original episodes that i wouldn’t notice because i’m not familiar with politics from the late 70′s/early 80′s… i’d imagine there must be some. i figure i should see ep1 and ep2 since everything else is fresh, then i can put this whole starwars thing to bed for a while.
